Dan Kaminsky has posted a DNS checker on his website.
I’m sure by now most of you have read about the DNS cache poisoning problem. Dan Kaminsky who found the vulnerability earlier this year has posted a “DNS checker” on his website that will tell you if the DNS server you computer uses is vulnerable to the DNS Cache Poisoning. Since this is a major security threat, I thought I would make an announcement here and add a link to the “DNS Checker” for my readers to test at home and work.
If you are not aware of this problem the folks over at Network Security Podcast have a great post, links to all the information and a podcast interview with Dan about his discovery.
For those of you that don’t know Dan Kaminsky do a Google. You will find a few of his presentations on video. He was at Toorcon last year here in San Diego, but I’m not sure if he will be making it out to this years. The guy is really smart and has access to some of the best test equipment available. I have been following his work for a couple years now and the guy knows his stuff when it comes to DNS and the Internet.
